RE: South GA N. FL campground suggestions

Be aware that there are 2 Stephen Foster's-one in FL near I 75 and I 10 and one in GA. Don't get them confused or you could ruin your trip!

RE: camping in Orlando - "Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake"

There are about 14 FHU sites the rest are w/e. There are a total of 36 sites. Check out RVparkReviews.com I have placed a review there under
May 2007. The park is wonderful, right off the turnpike but you really can't hear it. You are in the middle of town and have access to everything if needed. Close to Universal and not too far far Disney if that's what you want. It's cheap too-$18 for the FHU.

RE: Are the fires near Disney World?

Fires are NOT out yet, they are only contained. No smoke in Orlando yet but if the wind shifts it will be here. I-95 opens and closes based on the winds. If the wind is out of the W or NW it is open if it comes form the E they close it. US1 and A1A get jammed up then. Listen to local news in Central FL for any updates if traveling through here.

RE: Yosemite generator abuse?

We were in the Everglades in January and I loved hearing the night noises instead of the generators running. Everyone was extremely considerate of each other. You can run them from 7am-7 pm. There were always at least 1-2 that did start right at 7am but everyone shut their's off at 7pm. If not you were visited by a park ranger to remind you of the rules.
I told my DH that was the best sleep I ever had camping. No noise from anything. No vehicles driving in or out because it's over 40 miles to the nearest anything. No lights to shine into RV and no noise except what God provided for us.

RE: How do you store take-along medications?

We tend to keep OTC meds in their containers in a fishing box under our kitchen sink. It doubles as our 1st aid box with swabs and bandaids as well. We have used it numerous times and it is easy to reach in and grab it in a hurry and everything is in 1 place.
For daily prescribed medicines I use a 7 day box that goes on the kitchen counter.

RE: Thinking about Camping full time?? anybody else??

I have 1 child whom I have HS since the start. We had a 5er for over 2 years. Did not like it for doing schoolwork. I'm an organized person and the truck was always a mess from her school stuff. It was not comfortable to work in and we had to make many stops.
We now own a MH and things couldn't be easier. She has a table to work at while going down the road. We have power for her computer and she has her bunk to read in for comfort. Under the bunk is a large drawer that holds all her supplies needed. We have a bathroom available so less stops (unless driver needs to stretch their legs). We have our food right there. We have TV's available in the back bedrooms to watch movies related to what she is learning, which won't disturb the driver.
I can't say enough about how great it is to have a MH. If the industry had MH bunkhouses when we first looked we never would have bought a 5er first.
Good luck on your search.

RE: Family Camping Groups

We have a great family group that covers most of Florida. Check out
http://www.floridapopupcampers.bigstep.com/. We have seniors, families, couples, retired and working folks.
We camp somewhere every month and have our schedule set through Dec 2009 already. We camp mostly in state parks but occasionally in private campgrounds.
